Artemis Backstory:
Artemis refers to NASA's program to return astronauts to the Moon for the first time since Apollo, built around the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System rocket. In April 2026, Artemis II carried a crew around the Moon, marking the first time humans have traveled beyond low Earth orbit in more than 50 years. Upcoming missions will test lunar landers built by Blue Origin and SpaceX, setting the stage for astronauts to walk on the Moon again for the first time since 1972.
